Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia led government delegation to cut sod for road construction in Ashanti Region specifically Atwima Mponua’s capital, Nyinahini.

The communities to benefit from the barter agreement between the Government of Ghana and the Sinohydro of China have been on the drawing board for some time and it became a reality on Friday, November 22, 2019.
Scores of people from all the catchment areas thronged to the durbar ground to take part of the history ceremony.
Honorable Simon Osei Mensah, the Regional Minister was full of praise for the Vice President. He used the opportunity to educate the masses on the upcoming referendum and beseeched them to vote YES.

The Member of Parliament, Honorable Isaac Asiamah heaped praises on the DCE, Honorable William Darko, the citizens of Nyinahin and the Regional Minister for battling it out with Exton Cubic who by overt and covert action by the erstwhile Mahama Administration, gifted them a large chunk of the national asset. The Sports Minister asked the gathering to brace themselves for more developmental projects.

On his part, the overlord of Nyinahin, Nana Amanpene Boateng Twum (II) thanked the government for giving Atwima Mponua its fair share of the national fund. He advised his subjects to cooperate with the contractors for smooth take off of the project.

Also, he asked government to expedite action on the Tanoso-Abuakwa dual carriage road which saps enough energy off commuters who ply that route. Bringing his nice and ear pleasing message to an end, Nana Boateng Twum, asked his subjects for unity and peace in Nyinahin.

He advised people bury their differences for a prosperous Atwima Mponua; which was met with a resounding clap from the gathering.

The Roads and Highway Minister, Honorable Amoako Atta, pleaded with the gathering to help achieve the developmental agenda of government.

He stated that, this is the first phase of roads to be constructed and it includes Nyinahin-Kyekyewere, Nyinahin Town Roads, Kwanfifi-Apenimadi and Mpasatia-Abompe.

He said the documentation for the second phase is far advanced and it will include Nyinahin-Awesesu and other Roads which span to about 100km district wide. He promised the Roads to be constructed are first class roads which will last for over 30yrs.

Vice President, His Excellency Mahamadu Bawumia firstly congratulated the gathering for the event.

He elaborated that the Akufo Addo led administration has developmental agenda that if embraced fully, will end Ghana’s woes. He mentioned that the Sinohydro facility is an achievement unparalleled in the records of Ghanaian times gone by.

He, together with Nananom went to the site to officially cut the sod for the commencement of project.

“Now I officially cut-sod to commence Road construction in Atwima Mponua”, he posited.
Setting the record straight as usual, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia said most of the claims by the erstwhile Mahama administration to have constructed a lot of roads in Ghana during its tenure are untrue.

He said, the roads only exist in the NDC propaganda booklet entitled ‘Green Book’.

“Contrary to all the nice pictures in the Green Book, we realised that the reality on the ground was very different. For eight years of the previous NDC government, they did not pay much attention roads. But today they want to tell us they care more about Ghanaians than we (NPP) do. For eight years, they accomplished very little,” he said.

“The NDC, I am sure, are very embarrassed by their record. They claimed they had fixed so many roads in the country, but today there are demonstrations everywhere across all the regions for more and more roads. In their eight years, they did little on road networks in the country”.SINO-HYDRO ROADS GET OFF THE GROUND
