Shocking Images and videos emanating from Diaso forest in the Upper Denkyira West District in the central region of Ghana has vindicated government and small scale miners taskforce.
Small scale miners taskforce stormed the forest reserve and arrested some Chinese nationals who were engaging in illegal mining, despite the ban placed on illegal mining in the country by the government.
Some equipments used in the illegal mining activities were seized.
This simply shows that,government and the small scale miners taskforce are actually on top of their job and deserve to be commended.
It is on record that, C &J Alaska, a mining company, who claimed ownership of the concession at large paid some media houses and personalities to peddle falsehood against government and the small scale miners taskforce who have been assigned to fight against illegal mining in the country .
Imperial heritage also a concession belonging to the directors of C&J Alaska was also caught in the same act of destroying the river bodies and vegetation inside the Apraprama forest reserve at Kobro in the Amansie central district in the Ashanti Region.
On Saturday, the 16 of February 2019, about 60 journalists from the 16 regions of the country paid a visit to the Diaso forest reserve to ascertain the extent of damage caused by the activities of these illegal miners .
Journalists upon their arrival were shocked and surprised as to why about 46,000 acres of secondary forest have been destroyed beyond measure and commended government and the small scale miners taskforce for putting a stop to the despicable and disgusting activities in the area.
Personalities who supported C&J Alaska and Imperial Heritage to embark on the illegal mining activities in the area should bow down their heads in shame as the activities of the unauthorized mining firm has caused more harm to the nation.
Media houses who were present pledged their support for the government and the small scale miners taskforce in fighting to restore the river bodies and the vegetative cover.
