It’s not unusual to see upcoming musicians cry about their songs being unjustly stolen and used by so called ‘mainstream’ artistes at the detriment of these young lads.
At the same time, some upcoming artistes simply make up these stories as some sort of publicity stunt to draw attention to themselves and ride on such controversies to be seen by the public.
Upcoming artiste, Yfee Sofa has accused dancehall singer Shatta Wale of stealing his song “Back Case”. The musician claims he released his song in September 2018, nine months before Shatta dropped his song of the same title.
In an interview, the Kumasi-based artiste said the lyrics and theme of the song is too similar to Shatta Wale’s own and he believes he stole it.
According to him, he got to know about it when he decided to share the song on Shatta Wale’s “Tuesday Market”, that was where he got reactions from people indicating that Shatta has the same song. His personal investigation confirmed it.
Well, this is not the first time Shatta Wale has been accused of stealing a song. Recall in late 2018, he was accused of stealing his hit song “I Know My Level” from an upcoming Ivorian musician known as Benardio Oneside.
