Renowned Nollywood filmmaker and actor, Kunle Afolayan has lost his grandmother today, February 17, 2017.

The award-winning director is popular for his works, including The Figurine: Araromire, The CEO as well as Phone Swap featuring Wale Ojo, Joke Silva, Nse Ikpe-Etim and the legendary Chika ‘Zebrudaya’ Okpala.

He announced the loss to his fans on his Instagram page earlier.

‘My mother called me this morning and was crying, before I ask what happened, she wailed and said Maami ti ku (my mum just died). Then I said to her “Maami, sebi mama ti dagba(mum, but grandma is old), then she goes ” sebi iya mi si ni (But She’s still my mother)” then I said ok but she’s old so e m’a ke mo(stop crying). My grandmother should be about 100 yea,the exact date of birth was not documented though but since my mother is 74year then her mother should be close to 100 if not more than. Ki oloun fi orun ke mama (Rest in Peace). Omo ati o ommo omoo lo gbeyin won(lots of children and grandchildren outlived her). Plenty cows very welcome.’
