As a young woman growing up, immediately you hit a certain age, you are expected to be married or at least have children. This has been the case of beautiful Ghanaian actress Lydia Forson who is constantly criticized for not having children or married despite being 35.
Lydia Forson cannot fathom why her marital status is very necessary to others who spend all their time talking about it.
She became furious after a TV presenter opined that she (Lydia) should have married with about three kids at her age during a live show called ‘Pae Mu Ka’ aired on TV Africa.
In response to the criticism, Lydia Forson quizzed what people get from discussing her private life.
According Lydia Forson, many of these women who poke their nose into the marital status of others may not even be satisfied in their marriages.
“There are so many nasty ways I can respond to this, but I’m going to choose not to. And before you tell me to ignore, you have to walk a mile in my shoes, to understand how it feels to be constantly berated by people who know nothing about you, your life, struggles etc. Why a happily married woman, would be so engrossed in the life of another woman not only baffles me but exposes a lot about her. It seems this is the only way to gain popularity and notoriety these days; but my dear you must be prepared for every smoke it comes with.
So when things start to fall apart in your life, you know you laid the foundation.
Why my marital status is a constant subject of conversation is something I will never understand, does it feed, clothe or improve your life in anyway? These are the people who’ll be suffering in their homes, crying at night, suffering abuse but will stay silent to maintain their “title”. Happy people rarely worry about other people,” Lydia Forson wrote in an Instagram post which she swiftly deleted for reasons best known to her.
There is a saying that before you point the speck in someone’s eyes make sure there’s none in yours. Whether she marries or not, Lydia said “MIND YOUR BUSINESS”!!
