Embattled gold dealership firm-Menzgold, has issued a statement detailing dates and venues for collection of monies owned by the firm to customer starting next week.

In a statement signed by the Head of Communications, Nii Armah Amarteifio, it was said that validation process will begin on Monday, October 28, from 9am to 4pm each day at designated venues and is set to be ending on November 28.

After months of battle with government agencies over the legality of its operations, the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) secured a court order to freeze the assets of Menzgold and other related businesses belonging to Nana Appiah Mensah, CEO of the company.

Months after detention in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in December 2018 for allegedly defrauding business partners following the claims of Ghanaians labeling his business as a as a “Ponzi”.

C.E.O. and owner of the firm, Mr. Appiah Mensah finally made it to the shores of Ghana in July this year with claims of winning a litigation case against him that lead to his detention some months back in Dubai.

It was also reported that his detention sparked many controversies as customers kept making claims of fraud and asked that government intervened on their behalf to retrieve monies owned them by the firm after news of an alleged $39 million was awarded him after his scuffle with the government of UAE.

The news came as a big relief to the aggrieved customers who have been in constant battle with the government of Ghana and stakeholders who were working around the clock on the matter.

However, upon reaching Ghana after the detention despite claims of winning the case, it has been all talks from Mr. Appiah Mensah and no actions whatsoever.

From countless Instagram messages, twitter banters, and radio interviews, customers seemed not to have been satisfied with the resolutions put across by the C.E.O. and resorted to more action against the government.

It is however, our greatest wish that this news calms all parties involved as they seek better ways ahead on the matter. Designated areas have been assigned by the firm across the country to ensure smooth operation come next week.

An extract from the press statement released by the firms says, “All customers are expected to visit any of the respective outlets within the hours of 9:00 am to 4:00 pm each working day and submit photocopies of their Gold Trading Agreement, Receipt of Gold Traded Purchase, Gold Trading Commission Receipt, Valid National ID Copy and Evidence of Gold Re-trade(s) and Receipts or Agreements,”.
