MEMHREP team Ghana led by Mr. Ayisah Sam Kelvin, Deputy administrator of the NGO fed mental patients(Onyame Adehye) on the principal streets of Suame roundabout, Adum, Pampaso and its surroundings.
The team fed, clothed and supported close to two hundred mentally ill patients sleeping on the streets of Kumasi.
The outreach programme,according to Mr. Ayisah Sam Kelvin is aimed at feeding and supporting 200 persons sleeping on the streets this Xmas, as we all celebrate the festive period.
He said, MEMHREP is now establishing branches with teams in Northern, Western, and Central regions.
The team will be educating the general public on how to prevent mental illness and help those already on street to get them back on track going forward.
“We are planning to feed and cloth up to 500 persons with disabilities and those with mental illness by the close if the year.” he hinted .
The NGO has liaised with Ejisu government hospital and Suntreso Government hospital psychiatric unit, all in the Ashanti Region to ensure that all mental patients when fed and clothed would be referred to the aforementioned hospitals for the need assistance.
Ayisah Sam Kelvin further called on the government of Ghana and the general public to help donate to the NGO to ensure that their mission of clearing all mental patients from the streets of Kumasi is accomplished.
