Kevin Hart has been involved in a car accident in California, the California Highway Patrol has confirmed.
The 40-year-old actor and comedian was riding as a passenger in his car, which was being driven by Jared S. Black.
According to a press release from the CHP, the vehicle – a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda – crashed at 12.45am on Sunday in West Valley when Black turned from Cold Canyon Road onto Mulholland Highway.
The release said: “Black immediately lost control of the vehicle and the Plymouth left the road and rolled over down the northern embankment.”
It also said Black was ‘determined not to be under the influence of alcohol’.
Hart and Black were taken to nearby hospitals as a result of ‘major back injuries’, while another passenger, Rebecca Broxterman, suffered ‘only complaint of pain’.
The press release explained: “Two of the three occupants were trapped in the vehicle. The remaining occupant and owner of the vehicle, Kevin Hart, left the scene to his nearby residence to get medical attention.
“The driver was located in the driver’s seat of the vehicle and determined not to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision.
“Hart and Black sustained major back injuries as a result of this collision and were transported and treated at nearby hospitals (Northridge – Hart, UCLA Westwood – Black).”
Hart is known for his love of cars, and regularly posts on social media about them.
Back in July, Hart took to Instagram with a photo of what appears to be the car involved in the crash, explaining he’d got it for his 40th birthday.
He wrote: “I added some more muscle to the family for my 40th… welcome home ‘Menace’.”
Last December he also reportedly splurged on some classic cars to thank his crew after he wrapped up his latest international tour.
He wrote on Instagram: “Just treated my guys to Old School cars. This tour has been amazing. I wouldn’t be where I am today without my team.”
In another he added: “Yup… We are officially getting a old… Me and my guys started a car club. We are the ‘Plastic Cup Boyz Car Club’.
Here’s wishing Hart, Black and Broxterman all full recoveries.
