Miro Forestry, a private company located in Drobonso has made a donation of personal protection equipment worth thousands of Ghana cedis to health facilities in Drobonso to help fight covid-19 pandemic.

The presentation was made during a short ceremony in Drobonso on Monday, October 19 2020 which was attended by the chief of Drobonso and his subjects as well as representatives from the two facilities, St. Vincent De Paul Clinic and Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) Clinic.

The items included Veronica buckets, infrared thermometers, tissue papers, hand sanitizers, liquid soap, N95 face mask and face shield. Others include disposable gloves, bedsheets and surgical gowns.

Handing over the items to the facilities, the community and social affairs manager of Miro company, Mr. Ntim-Adjei Opoku stated that, Miro company was pleased to present the items to the facilities as its contribution towards the fight against COVID-19.
He expressed the hope that the facilities will use the equipment for its intended purpose.

On his part, Nana Dwamena Dankwa Dwubisiew, chief of Drobonso thanked Miro company for the gesture. He recounted the various support the company has given to Drobonso community. He said aside the jobs it has given to the teaming youth, Miro has built a public toilet for the community and has assisted the facilities with similar PPEs in the past.

Receiving her share of the donation, Sr. Bernadette Oko, administrator of St. Vincent De Paul Clinic thanked Miro for the timely intervention as the facility was running out of stock of PPEs. She promised to ensure that the equipment are used for the intended purpose to contain the disease.

She used the opportunity to appeal to Miro company to build a private ward at the clinic to enable it properly take care of their staff. Mr. Adjei encouraged her to put the request into writing and assured it will be looked into if received.

Miro Forestry is a plantation development company operating in two counties, namely Ghana and Sierra Leone.

In Ghana, the company which started operations in 2012 has it’s head office located in Asante Akyim Agogo. It has also established a factory in Drobonso to produce plywood and wood veneer for both local and international markets. Currently, Miro has developed about 10,000 hectares of land with different tree species.
