Ghana youth international Benjamin Tetteh made a glorious debut for Standard Liege by scoring the consolation goal in their frustrating 2-1 home loss against Westerlo in the Belgian Pro League on Saturday.

The 18-year-old lanky forward highlighted his scoring credentials on a nights Liege succumbed to a bitter home defeat against visiting Westerlo at the Stade Maurice Dufrasne with fans in full attendance.

The former Dreams FC player admitted he is delighted to have scored on his debut but unhappy about the outcome of the game.

“I’m happy to have scored but it was not a good for the team because we lost the game,” he said in a post-match interview.

Tetteh outpaced Dutch-born Ghanaian defender Mitch Apau inside the box to latch on to a Mathieu Dossevi intelligent pass and fired a fierce low drive home.

The 2015 Ghana U20 forward was handed a starting role after he netted a double a friendly game during the international and he justified his starting role by scoring a wonderful strike.

Benjamin De Ceulaer had struck twice in the first-half to fire the visitors ahead but Tetteh gave Liege hope of a second-half comeback after halving the deficit. Dossevi had picked a neat pass from midfield and the former Valenciennes midfielder showed replicated his great partnership with Ghana’s Abdul Majeed Waris during their days in the French Ligue 1 by tailoring a pass for Tetteh to hammer home.
